The Piano accompaniment is led by Arranger/Composer/Piano Virtuoso Desmar Guevara who also arranges for the band. On Baritone Sax/Flute and Tenor Sax they have the great styles of Jorge Castro, an amazing Jazz/Latin Jazz musician Arranger/Composer. Castro has also composed and Arranged a Latin Jazz Instrumental in the bands first CD recording. Last but not least on Trombone and Vocal, Willy's NYC Salsa Project is proud to present Ron Prokopez. A New Yorker with Latin American roots who with his unique styles bring out the fire on every Moña and the elegance of a real Trombone sound. Although Prokopez is very young he has an ability to express a virtuoso sound and interpretation of this music. Born in New York City’s ‘Spanish Harlem’ and of Puerto Rican descent‚ Henry‘s love for the music that makes his blood flow was born during the family parties in New York City and childhood summers in Puerto Rico. On this tropical island‚ and in New York City is where he found his soul—and learned to dance Salsa. A dancer‚ practically all his life—“My heart beats on clave” —he is known to hold his own and understands how to honor and inspire a Salsero on the dance floor.

Henry has worked as a disc jockey‚ master of ceremonies‚ sound engineer‚ video jockey and promoter in major nightclubs and venues around the world throughout his career span.

DJ Henry Knowles‘ career nearly translates into Salsa evangelism as he spreads the beat and his love for Salsa rhythms on a global scale. For over four years‚ Henry Knowles promoted and hosted “Simply Salsa Mondays” at El Flamingo‚ which was recognized as New York City’s hottest Salsa dance party. Live music was featured every Monday and frequented by Salsa Lovers from all over the world. Some acts featured include names such as: Johnny Pacheco‚ Spanish Harlem Orch. with Ruben Blades‚ Larry Harlow‚ Azuquita‚ Johnny Colon & New Swing Sextet…to name a few. Henry now continues to host parties at Taj Lounge in NYC‚ Vintage in White Plains‚ NY and El Morocco in NYC and his goal is to maintain Latin music present in NYC by introducing it to the Salsa dancers…especially the newcomers.

JOHNNY G. has been on the Latin circuit in the UK since the beginning of the popularity of Salsa Music and the emergence of its dance scene in the late 80’s. His breadth of experience & wealth of knowledge of musical styles is matched by few in the business and many know him as the Latin Expert who worked and was in charge of Mr Bongo’s record shop for 10 years.

He is also a journalist, having written articles on music in “Noticias Latin America” as well as reviews of releases in magazines such as ‘Straight no Chaser’ and ‘Latin London’..

As part of his DJ work, he has collaborated with fellow DJ Gerry Lyghsett at GLR Radio, presenting the weekly World Music show “Planet Mambo”.

Over the years, Johnny G has been a resident DJ at venues such as the “Loughborough Hotel”, “Bar Rumba”, ”Havana” and “Salsa Fusion”. Due to his popularity he has also been invited to appear as guest DJ appearances at different venues, Music Festivals, Concerts and special events.

Johnny G plays musical styles covering a range of Salsa (N.Y, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Colombian, etc); Merengue; Latin Jazz; Bachata; Pop, Brazilian, African, Funk/Soul beats & Reggaeton).

His name is widely recognised across the scene as somebody who plays the Classics and latest tracks with his own personal style and flourish.

Motivated by the closure of London’s Loughborough Hotel, where he was the resident DJ for 12 years, Johnny G teamed up with Salsateca and is currently running his own night ‘Latin Swing’ at Wessex House, Clapham Junction on Thursdays.

In 2005 he was invited to teach and DJ salsa in Egypt's Red Sea Riviera at the world famous club Pacha, after which there was no stopping him. He boasts appearances at clubs and events including Glastonbury Festival, Oxygen Festival, Ireland and Club Cheyenne, Spain but to name a few, as well as presenting and MCing for some of the biggest names in Salsa and Latin Music - Tito Nieves, Willie Colon, Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Oscar de Leon, Jerry Rivera, Rey Ruiz, Tego Calderon, Hector el Father and the list goes on...

With a solid knowledge of the musical history of salsa and an ear for recognizing the latest hit Julian Mr. M keeps the floor pumping all night long. His method of mixing and fusing different musical genres with Latin beats has given him his own unique signature that is recognizable from the moment you step in the door.

Julian Mr.M is also a teacher and performer of Salsa and teaches regularly in London. His teaching style is fun and lively, yet with a strong emphasis on technique and music interpretation. Julian manages to inform his students not only of the dance steps but their origin within the music. He takes his teaching to another level and is currently in demand from abroad. He has performed in London’s most exclusive venues; Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Opera House.

DJ Silvao has travelled extensively around the UK, Europe and Brazil playing at packed-out venues. Following on from his success playing alongside the Colombian salsa band LA-33 at Leeds University in July 2008, he went on to DJ with The Alex Wilson Band and the Brazilian Legend Seu George. He is currently a resident DJ at Azucar and The Favesham club in Leeds, host to the most popular Brazilian student night in the North.
